Positive Ageing Week

Positive Ageing in Galway

During positive ageing week Galway communities took the opportunity to highlight the contribution older people make in our local communities

Positive Ageing Stories

During Positive Ageing Week we worked together with Age Action and other Galway agencies to celebrate the enormous contribution of older people to our communities. We identified and shared stories of some of the many older people who actively participate in their localities who epitomise healthy, positive ageing.

Letters to Grandparents

Galway school children wrote letters to their grandparents and other older people who inspired them. Children were encouraged to send a special note of love and appreciation during Positive Ageing Week 2020. A selection of these letters were featured in the Galway Advertiser newspaper.

Take TIME to mind yourself

Throughout the week we highlighted ways for older people to mind their physical and mental health. We encouraged them to take time to Talk, Interest themselves in something you enjoy; Move around and get some exercise and Eat good nutritious food. We are distributing our TIME fridge magnet to older people in our services.
