Fairgreen Hostel for Homeless Men

COPE Galway Fairgreen Hostel is a 24-hour emergency accommodation service in Galway City Centre for homeless men. The hostel has 26 single bedrooms.

We offer homeless men a private bedroom, 3 meals daily and access to showers and laundry services. Each client is assigned a key worker who works with them to identify their individual needs and to support them in setting on a pathway out of homelessness and into appropriate long-term housing, including independent living.

Fairgreen Hostel operates to a harm reduction approach in supporting men who are actively misusing alcohol and, or drugs. We also accommodate and support men with mental health challenges.

Our aim is to provide a peaceful, safe, clean and friendly environment for everyone who lives and works in Fairgreen Hostel.

Who is the service for?

– Men, 18 years or older, who are homeless, and have registered as homeless with the relevant Galway City or Galway County housing authority.

– Self-referrals and referrals from other agencies are also accepted.

Our qualified, experienced staff who provide one-on-one support for each client, working with you to assess your individual situation and identify support and services that are best suited to your needs.

Assistance with accessing identified services and organisations.

Assistance with form filling and staff will advocate for and with you as necessary.

Help with accessing training and skill development opportunities.

Practical life skills and budget advice.

Our residents also have access to:

Accommodation clinics where staff help clients looking for private rented accommodation.

Medical Services: A GP, a nurse, access to podiatry clinic and dentistry work.

Substance Abuse Support: A substance misuse worker who runs weekly clinics and group sessions for residents who are dealing with substance abuse and offer recovery support.

Advocacy and Support: We can advocate on behalf of our clients with accommodation providers, employment services, court services, probation services, addiction and medical services.

A ‘sober room’ where clients play darts, snooker, watch TV or films.
