“I have Muscular Dystrophy and am visually impaired. I started using Meals4Health last year. Initially, I thought that it was an older person’s service; that I wouldn’t fit the age bracket. But I was delighted to learn the service also supports people living with disability or chronic illness – they are very flexible.
The weekly meals are very tasty and the staff and delivery people are incredibly friendly and kind. When I ring up to order on a Thursday or a Friday, I usually speak to Fiona or Anne or Susie. You couldn’t deal with nicer people. They know that, even though I can use a laptop, I’m not very computer savvy. So they usually go through the menu with me on the phone. It is a great service.
Having the meals delivered is convenient, but to me it is a necessity; and it saves me a small fortune, to be honest. I get three main meals and one dessert for €24 per week – I’d pay a lot more if I went grocery shopping, as I’d have to have help and get taxis.
Being independent is hugely important to me. The service is reliable. I always know when to expect my delivery on Monday.
