Community Lunch Clubs

Eat Well, Make Friends & Join Your Community

Join a community lunch club in your community

Community based lunch clubs provide a positive environment where older people can meet, enjoy a good meal together, socialise with their neighbours, and make new friends all within their local community.

Some Lunch Clubs meet once a week, others monthly and some meet every fortnight. They are set up and run by community volunteers and take place in a community setting. Meals are catered by COPE Galway’s Community Catering Service.

Usually members pay €6 for a two course meal, main course and dessert, at the Lunch Clubs. Some lunch clubs may add an additional €1 to cover tea, coffee or other items. This varies from club to club. Contact the lunch club you would like to join to find out what they offer (see list of lunch clubs below).

As well as enjoying a healthy meal and social interaction, at the lunch clubs older people can get information and support services they may need to improve their quality life at home.

Would you like to set up a Lunch Club for older people in your community

It means a lot to us as it’s a chance to meet our friends and enjoy music, singing and dancing and have fun. The atmosphere in the club is always joyful and good and welcoming. There’s always a story to be told or heard
