Investing in Volunteers Award

Quality award for investing in volunteers

We are honoured to be the first charity in the West of Ireland to achieve the Investing in Volunteers quality standard.

Investing in Volunteers is Volunteer Ireland’s quality standard mark for best practice in volunteer management and aims to improve the quality of volunteering experience for volunteers. Achieving the standard demonstrates our commitment to maintaining a quality volunteer programme.

Our volunteers give so much to COPE Galway. Their time, commitment and dedication allow us to provide so much more support to our clients.

We want all our volunteers to have the best possible experience while volunteering with us, and to feel supported and valued in their roles.

The Investing in Volunteers audit process helped us make how we recruit, work with, and support our volunteers even better. With this enhanced Volunteer Programme, we hope to make the experience of volunteering with us the best possible.

Thank you to our amazing tribe of volunteers.

Your support and dedication help us deliver vital services to the most vulnerable people in Galway.

About the Award

The Investing in Volunteers Award is the only standard quality mark that focuses on volunteers, and is based on four areas of volunteer management – planning for volunteer involvement; recruiting, selecting and matching volunteers; as well as supporting and retaining volunteers.

COPE Galway was assessed against a range of best practice standards in August 2018. The audit involved meeting with over 30 volunteers, Board members and staff. We attained its quality mark standard on 28th October 2018.

“COPE Galway have demonstrated a real commitment to volunteering and proven that their volunteer management policies and procedures meet nationally recognised standards.”
