1 in 5 women experience domestic abuse in their lifetime.
In 2018, Domestic Abuse Service supported over 450 women, including mothers with children. We couldn’t provide accommodation for 169 women due to limited facilities in our refuge.
We are at the final stages of developing the convent on Forster Street into Modh Eile House – a new larger, fit for purpose COPE Galway Domestic Abuse Service and Refuge for women and children in Galway.
We urgently need your help to raise final €400,000 needed to complete and open Modh Eile House in 2020.
If everyone in the Galway community supports the #GalwayGirl campaign, we can make sure that every woman and child experiencing domestic abuse has a safe place and support when they need it.
How you can help
If everyone in Galway supports the #GalwayGirl campaign, we can complete Modh Eile House in 2019! We need you, your family and friends, your school, business, club or community group.
I didn’t know about refuges before, but having to leave with my baby so suddenly and so late at night… it was amazing to find this place. I feel so safe and supported since I’ve been here.”
