Christmas Swim 2020

THANK YOU for Swimming Where You Are

THANK YOU for joining the 2020 Christmas Swim!

A huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined the reimagined 2020 COPE Galway #SwimWhereYouAre Christmas Swim.

For the first time in 31 years we couldn’t gather at Blackrock for the Christmas Swim event. Yet still, over 870 swimmers in Galway, across Ireland, the UK, USA, Canada and Australia braved the cold from where they were and raised funds for COPE Galway. The new 10-day ‘Swim Where You Are’ event meant people could keep their tradition alive and continue to support people in need when they need it most. And for those who couldn’t make it home for Christmas, the event gave everyone, at home and abroad, a way to connect with family and friends, and also to Galway.

Thank you all so much! So far you have helped raise over €50,000! for COPE Galway.

These funds are vital in helping us support people in Galway who are homeless, women and children experiencing domestic abuse and older people who need social and nutritional support.

Thank you to everyone who took part and supported the swim; who shared swim photos and stories and a special appreciation to all who went even further and fundraised.
Check out our collection of Christmas swim photos and stories in the 2020 Christmas Swim Facebook Photo Album.
