Answers to questions about our recruitment process

Here are answers to some of the common questions we are asked about COPE Galway’s application and recruitment process. If you have further questions about the role, application or recruitment process, contact our HR team on 091 778 750 or email hr@copegalway.ie.

Current jobs opportunities can be found on our current vacancies page. Each job will include the job description, details of the role, person specification, requirements and information on how to apply. You will also be able to download an application form which is unique to each role.

For most roles, after reading the job description applicants are required to complete the application form and email it to hr@copegalway.ie before the closing date. It is important to read the full job description and person specification before completing and submitting your application.

After the closing date we shortlist applicants and choose who to bring forward for interview. Those who are not shortlisted for interview will be made contact with when the recruitment process finishes.

There should be no surprises in our interviews, questions come from the job description. We recommend that you read that and do a little research on COPE Galway. Interviewers don’t bite! We want candidates to be relaxed and themselves at the interview to ensure the best recruitment decision is made. We usually have two interviews and one of them will be a member of management of the relevant service.

There may be a second interview depending on the role and usually, we would call back 2-4 candidates for a second round interview. These interviews would delve a little bit deeper into your experience and allow us to generally get to know you a little better.

Well done you! All positions in COPE Galway are conditional on references and Garda Clearance, although some positions can start work pending Garda Clearance. We have a starter pack and an induction process in our services to start you on your long and happy journey with COPE Galway.

With over 120 staff across a diverse range of services we recruit frequently, but if we have no suitable vacancies for you currently we encourage you to register your email address and we will let you know when new positions become available.

We collect and process personal information submitted by applicants on our online and downloadable application forms. COPE Galway uses this information to process your application, and where applicable, interview and recruitment. We do not share your information with third parties. COPE Galway keeps information for a period of six months if your application is unsuccessful, and longer if you are successful.
