We are currently seeking applications for a:

Head of Domestic Abuse Service

COPE Galway have operated a Domestic Abuse Service in Galway since 1981. Our service provides support to around 700 women and their children each year.

The Head of Domestic Abuse Service will have the opportunity and responsibility to achieve the overall strategic direction of COPE Galway Domestic Abuse Services, in line with the COPE Galway Strategy 2020-2025. The post holder will have the opportunity to further develop COPE Galway’s service offering and voice in the area of domestic, sexual and gender based violence in the context of a changing national policy and legislative responses to this issue.

They will be responsible for the overall management and development of the range of services and responses of the organisation to the needs of women and children affected by domestic abuse and will be part of the senior management team within COPE Galway.

If you have a strong and proven background in working to bring about real change and to contribute to improving people’s lives and in leading a team of committed and skilled staff in the supporting of women and children impacted by domestic abuse, then you may be interested in this opportunity.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Minimum of 3 years staff and service management experience
  • Experience in policy development and best practice initiatives in the domestic, sexual and gender based violence sector or comparable sector
  • High level of communication skills.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a culture of expected standards and behaviours within a service
  • The ability and capacity to design, develop and implement plans which maximise the contribution of stake holders toward the achievement of goals
  • The ability to provide direction and focus during challenging times or chaotic circumstances
  • The ability to remain optimistic and resilient with a strong work ethic, while facing challenges

Salary: Commensurate with experience
Contract: Permanent
Intended location: Modh Eile House, Galway.
Frequency of work: 39 hours per week
