Celebrating Positive Ageing Week
Embracing Ageing and Celebrating Our Positive Ageing Heroes
29 September – 3 October 2025
Positive Ageing Week is a national campaign that shines a light on the many positives of growing older and honours the remarkable contributions of older people to our communities.
This year, Positive Ageing Week 2025 continues with the theme of ‘Challenging Ageism: Reframing How We Think, Feel, and Act Toward Ageing and Older Persons‘. It invites us to reflect on perceptions of ageing and older people, break down stereotypes, and recognise the wealth of experience, resilience, and wisdowm older people bring.
Throughout the week, individuals, families, schools, businesses, and community groups take the opportunity to show appreciation for the older people who enrich our lives and help build stronger, more connected communities.
This 2025 Positive Ageing Week Local Heroes Exhibition shares the stories of 27 remarkable older adults from across Galway City and County – people whose inspiring stories show how positive ageing makes our communities stronger.
