Go Purple Day
Raise awareness about domestic abuse and stand in solidarity for #ZeroTolerance.
#GoPurple this Friday 3 May. Stand in solidarity for #ZeroTolerance of domestic abuse.
Go Purple Day is a joint initiative led by An Garda SÃochána and domestic abuse services across Ireland. Together, we aim to raise awareness about supports and services available to people who experience domestic abuse, and to advocate together for a society with zero tolerance of domestic abuse.
We are calling on the Galway community – individuals, schools, businesses, churches, teams and groups to join in and show your support by going purple for the day.
Wear purple attire, bake purple treats, decorate your surroundings, or illuminate your home, business, school, or meeting space in purple. Capture and share your photos, use the #GoPurpleDay hashtag and tag @copegalway in your social media posts.
The color purple symbolizes love, strength, dignity, and independence – qualities of a compassionate community committed to eradicating abuse and violence against women and girls.
Going purple this Friday is a powerful yet simple gesture. It shows solidarity with those experiencing domestic abuse, conveying a strong message – ‘you are not alone’ and ‘help is always available’.
Together, we can foster a society that refuses to tolerate the crime of domestic abuse.
