Who We Are

COPE Galway is a local charity providing essential social services to families, men, women and children across Galway city and county.

Every year, we support more than 3,000 people through our services. We respond to the needs of people facing homelessness, women and children subjected to domestic abuse, and support older people to live healthy, independent lives in their communities.

We believe that behind every number is a unique person – a child, a young person, an adult – each with their own story, hopes and dreams. Our dedicated frontline teams work closely with each person to create personalised, innovative solutions that meet their unique needs.

Improving lives and strengthening communities across Galway for 60 years.

Rooted in the Galway community

Deeply embedded in the Galway Community, we are founded on the belief that together, we can make a positive difference for people in our community during their challenging times.

Our impact and services are possible thanks to the commitment of our staff and volunteers, the generosity of the Galway community and the support of our funders and partners.

Our vision is for a community where every person is valued, supported and empowered at every stage of life.

Our Vision

A community where every person is valued, cared for and supported at every stage of life.

We work to achieve this vision by providing essential supports for people at challenging times in their lives and by advocating for systemic change to remove the root causes of inequality and disadvantage that constrain the well-being and development of individuals, families and communities.

Our Mission

Making a difference by empowering people, creating change and strengthening communities.

We understand, respect and respond to the needs of those who struggle with the challenges of homelessness and domestic abuse and we support older people towards healthy and active ageing.

Our Logo

Representing the people at the heart of our work

The human figure at the centre of the hearts in our logo represents the individual, or individuals who are at risk. A human figure at the centre of love, life and vitality. The hearts represent the wider Galway community; informed, caring and active. The arc symbolises protection, shelter and services, to combine COPE Galway with the community and the individuals at risk.
