Go Purple Day 2023

Go Purple on Friday 28 April! Raise awareness about domestic abuse and stand in solidarity for #ZeroTolerance.

Join us and #GoPurple this Friday 28 April.

Go Purple Day is a joint initiative led by An Garda Síochána together with domestic abuse services across Ireland. The aim is to raise awareness of supports and services available to people who experience domestic abuse and violence; and to reduce the stigma for those who require support.

We are calling on the Galway community – individuals, schools, businesses, churches and groups to join in and show your support by going purple for a day.

Go Purple your way! Wear purple, bake purple, decorate, or light up your home, business, school or other meeting space in purple. Take and share your photos, use the #GoPurpleDay hashtag and tag @copegalway in your social media posts.

The colour purple is associated with love, strength, dignity and independence, all of which are characteristics of a caring community which has zero tolerance for any abuse or violence against women and girls.

Together we can make Galway a community where no one lives in fear of facing abuse in their home.
