| COPE Galway announced as new charity of the year |
|
Galway employees at Boston Scientific have selected COPE Galway as their charity of the year partner for 2010. COPE Galway emerged as the successful charity following a difficult review of over 40 nominations from Boston Scientific staff for the Charity of the Year Programme, which runs from now until March 2011. Volunteers for COPE Galway launched the partnership with a week long promotion at the Galway Plant, raising awareness among staff for the work of the organisation. Employees at Boston Scientific are being challenged to unleash their creativity for COPE Galway by submitting ideas for fundraising events to be run over the course of the charity year. Paraic Curtis, MD and VP Operations, Boston Scientific, said: "As always competition was fierce but we were impressed by the entry representing COPE Galway and their plans to create a new Childcare Facility at their Waterside House Refuge for Women and Children affected by Domestic Violence. We are looking forward to building up a strong relationship with the charity over the coming months. Jacquie Horan, Chief Executive, COPE Galway, said: "We are thrilled to be Boston Scientific’s charity partner for 2010. It would be an honour to be chosen any year, but to be chosen this year is fantastic due to the current difficult funding conditions."
